A hommage to the first glass plate recorders of photography. I specifically shot this on large format polariod negative. In the printing I left all the lines, marks of the polaroid process. It gives it a much older and more unique feel. So sad the age of polaroid is all but passed. Let us see if the brave companies endeavouring to relight this flame are able to.

This photographic print is a one off original unique. It is one of two versions of this image. Neither in their rendition are identical, save for the subject matter. Thus this print can be honestly called a one off - Limited edition of 1/1

Ice Rink Central Park NYC 1983

Ice Rink Central Park NYC 1983

An original photographic print printed on Cibachrome
Size of image 20"x13"
mounted, framed, signed and proof of originality and provenence

Famed as the setting for many great movies, Love Story with Ryan O’Neil and Ali MacGraw being one. This rink, an iconic statement of New York and of Central Park, has its own Hollywood story unfold shortly after I took this image in 1983. Purchased and redesigned as the rink we have today. The Wollman Rink, as it was known, was allegedly sold to an English Real Ale entrepreneur who moved it and redeveloped it, having bought it for cents off the NYC council, who then agreed to pay the costs of development! Wily Brit!

This image is one of my favourites, not for the awards it cultivated but for the eternal symbolism it illustrates. The young lad in the centre, standing absolutely still as the chaos of the world spins around him.

The original 35mm transparency has been destroyed making this Cibachrome original analogue print a collector's art piece. This original rink was also destroyed thus making this image a unique record of past history.

Within my book "An Evolutionary Journey" I relate the full story behind the setting, the taking and the subsequent events following this image.

This print is available as an original photographic analogue Cibachrome print.

Haku Hunk

Haka Hunk

An original photographic print printed as a C-Type analogue print
mounted, framed, editioned numbered, signed and proof of originality and provenence

Frano Botica, a one time All Black player gave his huge sporting skills to both rugby union and league. As a Kiwi he willingly subscribed to be made up Maori style suiting his roots to a T. It is often seen and projected from the outside of the industry to be a glamorous cushy ‘job’.
When working with such pros as Frano it was sheer joy, huge laughs and fun, yet delivering the ‘ job’ is what we all get paid for. Working with so called ‘celebs’ you meet all sorts, have to pander to every whim and fancy of another treading the rodent wheel of fame. At times like these I am grateful for family heritage, that of a lineage of diplomats. Something must have rubbed off as I always made sure the difficult ones were given just enough attention to feel ‘special’ but no more making it appear fawning. Frano required none of this as he was such a great face and character and a privilege to have in front of the lens In spite of the campaign being for a major brewery we never touched a drop during the shoot. These opportunities allowed me to interact with the person, not their P.R., image or public persona.

This print is available as an original photographic print. It is a C-type print
Size of image is 39 x 50 cms
This image is a photographic limited edition of four with availability of three. Each will be marked as 1 of 4 as they are purchased. One remains with the photographer so the edition will start at 2/4.
One will always remain with the photographer. So their uniqueness is guaranteed. They are utterly non reproducable due to the original analogue processes they were created in. The original transparency has been destroyed.

Digital copies are available of this image but are NOT photographic thus do not affect the original nature of the analogue limited edition prints.

Any Copyright overlay apparent in screen images will NOT appear on print!

The print comes with a note of provenance, written and signed by the photographer alongside a complete story of its creation and backstory. It will be certified as one of four in a limited edition.
